Strawberry
Box Packaging
Challenge
Conceptualize new packaging for Walmart's Private Label, Wonder Nation, for the Spring 2025 season.

Wonder Nation is a kid-centric brand for ages 4 through 12, that sells both accessories and apparel.

Packaging must be engaging and peggable on a retail level and must follow brand guidelines.

Product Specifications: A set of of 8 to 20 mini hair claws.
Solution
Received popular trend direction for SS 2025 from Product Designer, noticed a lot of fruit inspired pieces she was working on.

Planned general Spring-themed packaging, and planned on making a box that resembled a fruit – ultimately a strawberry – for an item.

Went through testing phases to better plan out panels for the box, so it can be properly secured when at retail level.

Composed dieline, mockups, and digital renders of packaging – following brand guidelines and as an unbranded item.
The Viewpoint
Provided with a moodboard and general idea of Spring/Summer 2025 trends from my Product Designer, I began to conceptualize packaging ideas following the trends that would most appeal to children: fruits, Spring iconography, and florals to name a few.

I came up with the idea to make "fun" packaging for the season to entice children and mothers to pick up the item.
The Construction
The Strawberry Box went through two stages of development, a rough stage and an editing stage. The rough stage is where I use simple shapes to compose the rough dieline. This is to get the desired structure correct before moving onto fine tuning and artwork placement.

After testing a rough mockup, I focused on rounding the edges and finding fold lines in the leaf segment of the packaging, so it can come off lively instead of stiff. With edits being made I finalized the dieline with the artwork.
The Mockup and Render
After finalizing the dieline I made a final mockup to test it's max capacity. The goal was to have the box fit at minimum 8 mini hair claws while not breaking.

After doing so I also made a 2.5D render of the packaging so it can be shown to Sales so they can have a general idea of the packaging.
The Unbranded
While the items were primarily for Walmart's Wonder Nation brand, I decided to also make an unbranded version of the packaging. This is mainly for the off-chance the item is moved out of Wonder Nation to another of Walmart's brands.

The unbranded version of the strawberry box is visually designed as a strawberry. I also rendered a 3D image using anAI tool of how the box would look.
The "For Fun"
Ultimately, the item and the packaging weren't picked up. But, I liked it and thought it's pretty cool, innit it?

So, please enjoy this main image of the packaging with strawberry claws around it.

Teehee!
